MCiSA’s social investment objective is to support and facilitate the realisation of the Moravian Learning Foundation Trust objectives.
- To establish, and through appointment of qualified staff and provision of appropriate buildings and equipment, to operate an educational institution of a public character primarily for rural communities situate in and surrounds of mission stations of Moravian Church in South Africa.
- To grant bursaries to deserving applicants to study further at other educational or vocational institutions provided that this shall be in furtherance of objective set out above
Objectives of the Trust
Extract from Trust Deed
- The objective and purpose of the Trust shall be to utilise donations and other accruals to the Trust to establish a special fund in the Republic of South Africa to be used exclusively for the establishment, and through the appointment of qualified staff and the provision of appropriate buildings and equipment, to operate an educational institution of a public character primarily for the rural communities situate in and the surrounds of the mission stations of the Moravian Church in South Africa (MCSA).
- To grant bursaries to deserving applicants to study further at other educational or vocational institutions provided that this shall be in furtherance of the objective set out above, such bursaries shall be for the defrayal of any expenditure directly incurred including the expenditure for board and lodging, books and tuition.

Foundation Trustees
- Three (3), trustees being Directors for the time being of MCiSA INVESTMENT HOLDINGS;
- Two (2) trustees, being, the President for the time being of the MCSA and the Vice President (Finance and Property) for the time being of the MCSA; and Two
- (2) trustees (educators), who are nominated by the Directors of MCiSA INVESTMENT HOLDINGS
Location of Foundation
- Initially, the Foundation will be based at a school situated in the farming area on top of Piketberg Mountain whose lease expired on 31 March 2011. The Foundation would also be located at other areas in the RSA, e.g. Mvenyane
- The school is ideally located in a farming area that supplies provides a substantial percentage of South Africa’s local and export fruit
- In addition, the MCSA has substantial agricultural land in the area that will serve as training ground for candidates
Link between MCiSA and MLF
- The MLF is the corporate social investment project of MCiSA
- The MLF is aimed at improving the livelihoods of rural communities through education, training and development
- MCiSA has an inherent relationship with a substantial segment of the rural population at mission stations and surrounds through employment provision, service provision, and environment and resource use.
